Animation and Expansion at Rovio Entertainment - Nick Dorra (Finland)

Nick Dorra, the head of Rovio Entertainment’s animation department, will talk about the strategies involved in transforming Rovio from just a mobile games designer into a full-fledged entertainment company. Animated projects outside games play a big part in the company’s thinking. Dorra will be sharing some insights into what Rovio is working towards, and also touch on what it is like to work for Rovio as an animator. Rovio is an industry-changing entertainment media company based in Finland, and the creator of the globally successful Angry Birds franchise. Rovio was founded in 2003 as a mobile game development studio, and the company has developed several award-winning titles for various mobile platforms. In 2009, Rovio released Angry Birds, a casual puzzle game for touchscreen smartphones, that became an international phenomenon within a year of release, and is now the number one paid app of all time. Rovio is rapidly expanding its activities in broadcast media, merchandising, publishing and services.
